Gold and silver have seen tremendous volatility lately, and on the 30th of January, both fell significantly.
After a big fall, is gold a buying opportunity? We backtest the following:
Buy GLD after a 5% drop and hold for N days
Each row shows the result of selling after 1-20 days. For example, after 10 days, the average return is 0.48%, but the results vary a lot. Thus, opposite to the stock market, where most big down days perform well in the days after, gold is different.
The same applies to silver and SLV.
